Event Travel Coordinator, World Youth Day 2023

 Reporting to:

  • General Manager, Harvest Journeys

 Duration:

  • Immediate to 15 September 2023 (scope for possible extension due to operational requirements)

 Background:

Harvest Journeys is a privately owned Catholic tour specialist and Australia’s market leader in group pilgrimage journeys to Europe and the Middle East. Operating for over 30 years, the company has developed an extensive program of scheduled and private tour departures along with the co-ordination of pilgrims to global Catholic events including movements to the international World Youth Days. 

Harvest is arranging the tour operation of over 2500 pilgrims to World Youth Day Lisbon in August 2023. Harvest will be managing the travel logistics – including airline bookings, accommodation, registration, pre/post touring packages – for groups from Australia and Asia – Pacific for this monumental event. It includes the movement of multiple pilgrim groups throughout Europe and the Middle East enroute to Portugal for the event. 

This position will play a vital role in ensuring the travel and touring arrangements of these pilgrims are coordinated in a professional and seamless manner. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and cost itineraries (travel plans) for clients
  • Efficient processing of customer bookings for package and FIT travel;
  • Coordination of inventory using Harvest’s customised online booking system;
  • Efficiently handle customer enquiries;
  • Coordination of Hotel /Airline allotments/Release/Deposit deadlines in relation to specific travel movements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years International Travel Consultant experience;
  • Previous group / event / FIT travel experience;
  • Experience with web-based applications and reservations systems (Proficiency in Galileo essential);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Understanding of the Christian / Catholic faith ethos;
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on results and attention to detail;
  • Sound knowledge of European / Middle East travel destinations.

The position is a full-time role and based at Alexandria, Sydney.
