Pilgrims on the first pilgrimage in the footsteps of St Mary MacKillop
Our very first Catholic Roadtrip has been a great success! After two years devoid of travel due to Covid, we are delighted that our pilgrims are on the road again.
The domestic pilgrimage in the Footsteps of St Mary MacKillop departed from Melbourne, followed a route along the Great Ocean Road through Apollo Bay, Portland, Penola, Victor Harbor, the Barossa Valley, and concluded in Adelaide.
Our happy pilgrims have enjoyed a blessed journey in the spirit of Mary MacKillop being enriched by her life and spirituality. Much encouragement has been gained by experiences shared, graces encountered, and friends made along the pilgrim’s road. Here are just some of their reflections…
“There were a ‘million reasons’ that we weren’t able to do this pilgrimage, but the gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit got us here! It has been a wonderful experience. I came with very few expectations and was thoroughly overwhelmed. For us, it has been a time of deeply spiritual, physical and emotional healing.”
“In allowing me to stop and take a break from my busy life it led to deep reflection I realized that I need to be less critical of others and be more consistent in my prayer life. I also gained inspiration from St Mary MacKillop especially in seeing crosses as an opportunity to make positive changes.”
“A highlight was meeting like-minded Christian people, deepening my faith and love for St Mary MacKillop, who I have prayed to for many years.”
“Our chaplain was inspiring and knowledgeable, and our tour coordinator was superb!”
“So thankful for this outstanding experience. We truly have been spiritually blessed. We can now go out and spread the Good News!”
“This pilgrimage has deepened my faith and renewed my attitude to my daily life.”
