Pilgrims on the first pilgrimage to the Red Centre of Australia, April 2022
Going to the heart of our nation, and encountering our Aboriginal brothers and sisters, as well as the natural beauty of the Australian outback, was an iconic and important experience for our pilgrims.
From the Catholic Aboriginal community at Santa Teresa, to some of the most beautiful gorges and canyons in Australia, to the celebration of Mass overlooking Uluru, the Red Centre pilgrimage had so many memorable encounters. The sense of depth, purpose and spirituality amongst the pilgrim group was palpable.
This pilgrimage provided me the opportunity to experience and begin to understand Aboriginal spirituality within the context of the Catholic Church and understand the lifestyle and challenges of those in the Northern Territory. It was wonderful to see the spectacular sights of Alice Springs, Kings Canyon and Uluru and understand their place in Indigenous spirituality.
A dream of a lifetime come true. A deeper appreciation and respect for our beautiful Australian land. The connection between God and me through experiencing our land through the act of walking. Each step in life takes us closer to God. When I experience the beauty of nature and respect the elements, I’m drawn closer to God.
A very blessed journey with deep spirituality and strength in the healing nature of faith. Offered wonderful insights to history and current situations of sensitive Indigenous issues and resulted in great deepening of faith and healing for all.
The colours, shapes and lovely First Nations people expanded my acceptance and knowledge of this country and God’s people. The Rock spoke to me of God’s heart, his bigness to receive and embrace all. So glad I came.
It was a ‘starting again’ point for me, a chance for a ‘new beginning’ with the opportunity to change direction in my life. I was in the right place, at the right time for God to work his grace on me.
Increased our awareness and understanding of the heart of this land, the grandeur of God in the landscape, the faith of the First Nations people.
The Red Centre Tour to Central Australia won my heart. The beauty of nature in all the places that we visited put me in touch with God.
A wonderful mixture of travel, site reflections and spiritual input.
