Day 1Begin Christchurch

  • Begin in Christchurch. You will be welcomed on arrival at your centrally located group hotel by our Tour Leader.
  • Get to know your fellow travelers as we come together to share our first group dinner this evening.

Day 2Christchurch via the Tranz Alpine Railway to Franz Josef Glacier

Theme: God’s Provision
Proposed Mass: St Patrick’s Church Greymouth

  • This morning we board the Tranz Alpine Railway, (renowned as one of the great train journeys of the world). Travel over massive viaducts, river valleys and spectacular gorges as you ascend through Arthur’s Pass located in the centre of the Southern Alps.

Day 3Franz Josef Glacier to Queenstown

Theme: Food for the Journey
Proposed Mass: Our Lady of the Alps, Franz Josef

  • Mass at Our Lady Of The Alps – Catholic Church, Franz Josef
  • Travel south following the Southern Alps via scenic Haast Pass & the resort town of Wanaka
  • Arrive into Queenstown , NZ’s home of adventure, for a 2 night stay.

Day 4Queenstown Exploration

Proposed Mass: St Joseph’s Church, Queenstown

  • Tour the sites of Queenstown this morning
  • Afternoon free to explore Queenstown
  • Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Queenstown
  • Board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw and cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station
  • Enjoy a delicious gourmet barbecue dinner featuring a menu of seasonal, fresh and locally sourced food at the Colonel’s Homestead.

Day 5Queenstown via Arrowtown to Te Anau 

Theme: Spirit of the Pioneers
Proposed Mass: St Patrick’s Church, Arrowtown

  • Visit Mary MacKillop Cottage in the old gold mining village of Arrowtown. Located on the St Patrick’s Catholic Church grounds, the Mary MacKillop Cottage is a small yellow cottage originally built as a miner’s house around 1870 where in 1897 Sister Mary MacKillop converted the cottage into a convent for the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart

  • Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves

Te Anau Overnight (BD)

Day 6Cruise on the Milford Sound

Theme: Wonder of Creation
Proposed Mass: St Bernard’s Church, Te Anau

  • Enjoy a fascinating scenic drive to Milford Sound
  • Cruise on this magnificent fjord. See Bowen Falls and the towering Mitre Peak. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the cruise.

Te Anau overnight (BLD)

Day 7Te Anau to Dunedin 

Theme: Abundance of Blessing
Proposed Mass: St Joseph’s Cathedral, Dunedin

  • Depart Te Anau this morning and travel east to Dunedin, known as the “Edinburgh of the South”
  • City tour of Dunedin
  • Visit Larnach Castle and Gardens – High Tea
  • Mass at St Joseph Cathedral Dunedin
  • The Little Blue Penguin viewing tour at dusk

Day 8Dunedin to Lake Tekapo

Theme: Awe & Gratitude
Proposed Mass: Church of All Saints, Twizel

  • Via Oamaru, famous for its white limestone
  • Lunch and Mass at Twizel (Church of All Saints Catholic Church)
  • View Mt. Cook – New Zealand’s highest peak

Day 9Lake Tekapo Retreat Day

Theme: Abundant Springs
Proposed Mass: Church of the Good Shepherd

  • Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Mackenzie Sheep Dog Statue
  • Mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd
  • Restful afternoon off by the turquoise waters.

Mt. Cook Overnight (BD)

Day 10Lake Tekapo to Christchurch

Theme: Hope & Inspiration  
Proposed Mass: Christchurch Pro-Cathedral 

  • Depart Lake Tekapo and journey across the scenic Canterbury Plains to Christchurch
  • Visit the Carmelite Monastery
  • Mass at the Christchurch Pro-Cathedral
  • Farewell dinner
